Meet Our Student Rabbi
Markus Lange, Student Rabbi
Born in Germany, Markus Lange is
a Rabbinical student and educator. He has studied at the Jewish
Theological Seminary in New York and Leo Baeck College in
London, where he is currently completing his Rabbinical
training, studying towards his MA in Jewish Studies at King’s
College London, as well as being a Rabbinic intern at North West
Reform Synagogue (Alyths Gardens).
His main interests include
rabbinic commentary and Midrash, hospital chaplaincy, interfaith
dialogue and music.
Markus has worked for the
Healthcare Chaplaincy, National Center for Jewish Healing and
was coordinator of the Inter-Seminary Dialogue in NYC. He has
also worked in interfaith and educational outreach for the Board
of Deputies of British Jews, and teaches at New North London
Synagogue within the Cheder, HaDerech, and the conversion
programme as well as his weekly Parashat HaShavua and Reading
Prayers classes on Shabbat mornings. Recently, Markus has begun
teaching an adult education programme at Hatch End Masorti
Synagogue in North-West London.
In his teaching and study
sessions, Markus combines the search for meaning with music and
a wide range of media and methods, exploring the richness, depth
and beauty of the Jewish tradition.
In the past, he as taught
children and adults at a number of Liberal, Reform and
unaffiliated synagogues in London and Washington, D.C.
